Human rights defender Riyad Avlar is working to find out what happened to the prison former detainees who did not make it out

The Independent Institution participated in the launch event of the Association of Families of Missing Asylum Seekers (AFOMAS), organised by the Syrian Centre for Media and Freedom of Expression (SCM) on the sidelines of the 58th session of the Human Rights Council.

"During its first visit to Syria, the Independent Institution on Missing Persons in Syria met with families, authorities, and civil society, and visited different sites.

Fadwa Mahmoud, co-founder of the organization Families for Freedom, stated that the central focus of the issue of enforced disappearance in Syria is the families.
