The Independent Institution on Missing Persons in the Syrian Arab Republic is mandated to search for everyone who is missing, whenever their situation or circumstances are related to Syria - this includes people who went missing while fleeing from Syria.
The Independent Institution participated in the launch event of the Association of Families of Missing Asylum Seekers (AFOMAS), organised by the Syrian Centre for Media and Freedom of Expression (SCM) on the sidelines of the 58th session of the Human Rights Council.

In the video above, the founders of AFOMAS stress the importance of the search for persons who went missing while seeking asylum. The Independent Institution works hand-in-hand with families and associations like AFOMAS towards the right to the truth.
