The Independent Institution
Established by the UN General Assembly in 2023 to clarify the fate and whereabouts of all missing persons in Syria and provide support to their families.
The Institution's search efforts focus on clarifying what happened to all missing persons in Syria and the circumstances in which they went missing. It also works to provide adequate support to survivors and families, including psychosocial, healthcare, and legal assistance. All missing persons fall under its mandate regardless of nationality, affiliation, or timing — guided by a humanitarian and truth-seeking mission upholding families' right to know.

أنشأتها الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة في عام 2023 لتوضيح مصير ومكان وجود المفقودين في سوريا وتقديم الدعم لأسرهم.
